Approximately 10,000 Africans living in the southern chinese city of Guangzhou have been forced to leave after a new policy in effect has caused several to have their visas cancelled or their renewal applications denied.
A lot of Africans go to China on flexible “F” visas that are approved for six months at a time and run small businesses there. Now, the only visas that the Chinese government is approving are 15-day tourist visas.
An official with the Chinese government is reported as saying that they are enhancing “security” ahead of the 2008 summer olympic games in Beijing.
